Insurance claims are, in fact, boring and monotonous. That is until you have a claim and you are unprepared to deal with it. What’s worse is that if your claim is not handled correctly the first time, it can result in subsequent claims and sometimes, years of pain and misery.
You may have reached this site by searching for insurance rates, looking for new home insurance, or maybe you just opened a claim and you need advice. Perhaps, you have an insurance nightmare you would like to share with the world? The purpose of this blog is to help those that need direction in circumnavigating the turbulent waters of insurance claims, and hopefully, make you feel like you’re not alone.
If it sounds like I am writing this blog from a point of experience, that’s because I am. In fact, we are still dealing with an open claim from 2017 (yes, it’s 2022 now).
Back in 2017, I searched for advice, consulted friends and family, lawyers, insurance professionals, and even reached out to the insurance Ombudsman of Ontario. What I found was an impossible granular trail of disconnected advice. Some of it accurate, some outdated, and all of it confusing and nearly impossible to follow.
The intent of this blog is to provide information, resources, and help for those that need it.
